Sauvage Innocence
Centre d’art Contemporain Passerelle
Summer 2017
To accompany the exhibition ZEFIRO TORNA at Centre d’art Contemporain Passerelle Vasiljeva together with OAOA invited the educational department of Passerelle to participate in the development of the installation. A section of the work titled Sauvage Innocence was dedicated to children and conceived as a space for curiosity and informal activity.
This children’s territory functioned as a condensed environment that moved between playground exhibition space library studio and reuse centre for artworks and everyday objects. It proposed a setting where objects could circulate between display invention and play.
Throughout the exhibition children’s games both inherited and newly invented were observed documented and gradually added to the space. What formed over time was an accumulative archive of social play, in which familiar objects alongside artworks and their stories generated small narratives, gestures and rules. Each contribution opened further possibilities for play and for imagining what a play material might become.
